6  Identity transmutations

6.1 What is an identity transmutation?

In ipseology, an identity transmutation occurs when an an individual stops using one signifier to describe themselves and starts using a different signifier. For example, if I edit my bio from Scientist who studies identity to Ipseologist who studies identity, then I have transmuted from scientist to ipseologist.

6.2 An example: TODO find an example.

TODO explain longitudinal sample

TODO maybe mom and mother as example? vegan and vegetarian?

6.3 Transmutations form networks

TODO discuss how the edges are weighted and directed. Describe a transition matrix.

TODO figure of an interesting transmutation network
