VCSSERG v1 / PI review

Three ways into the same lab.

Choose the visitor’s starting point: a research question, the available evidence, or a story about the work.

These September 9 homepage prototypes document the alternatives considered. Dr. Jones selected Concept C; the current homepage and shared page styles now carry that direction forward. Links open current project and Scholar pages.

A · Research directory

Bright, spacious, and institutional. A mission introduction leads to a project-card grid and Scholar band.

Best suited to: visitors looking for a project or person.

Tradeoff: findings sit one click below the project catalog.

Explore A

B · Evidence observatory

Compact, structured, and analytical. A left rail leads through evidence status, limitations, and contributors.

Best suited to: returning readers checking what is supported.

Tradeoff: dense evidence summaries need careful upkeep.

Explore B

C · Research journal

Warm, typographic, and editorial. A lead finding sits beside lab context, followed by notebook entries.

Best suited to: readers discovering the lab through its work.

Tradeoff: editorial selection can obscure less prominent projects.

Review route

  1. Open each concept at desktop and phone widths; use its section navigation and project links.
  2. Compare how quickly you can find a project, its limits, and a Scholar.
  3. Compare the selected Concept C with the current homepage; A and B remain archived alternatives.

All concepts retain CSSERG branding, green colors, license links, semantic HTML, and static operation. Bootstrap CSS is loaded through the CDN listed in the official documentation; no JavaScript is required.

Validation limits: local structure and links have been checked. Rendered desktop/mobile and assistive-technology QA remain outstanding; no browser was available in this iteration.
