To the Honorable Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States:

The petitioner, Drew Carey - Cleveland native, ardent fan of the Cleveland Browns, and professional purveyor of wit and humor - respectfully submits this petition for a writ of certiorari. This action seeks urgent review and reversal of the decision rendered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, which denied a preliminary injunction aimed at halting the egregiously misguided relocation of the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore, Maryland.

Statement of the Case

This case arises from the abrupt and controversial decision by the respondent, Art Modell - owner of the Cleveland Browns - to relocate the franchise to Baltimore. Petitioner contends that this move not only violates emotional and cultural investment of the city's residents in their team but also disregards binding covenants and community trusts established between the team and the city of Cleveland, which were designed to ensure the team’s long-term presence in Northeast Ohio.

Questions Presented

Whether the proposed relocation of the Cleveland Browns to Baltimore, undertaken with all the subtlety of a fourth-down Hail Mary pass, constitutes a breach of contractual and communal trust obligations established between the Cleveland Browns and the city of Cleveland, which are as sacred as Bernie Kosar's arm.

Whether local and national interests in preserving cultural stability in communities hosting major league sports franchises warrant a reevaluation of legal protections against franchise relocations,

Reasons for Granting the Writ

This petition presents issues of significant public importance concerning the governance of sports franchises, which serve as cultural cornerstones to American cities. The departure of the Cleveland Browns from Ohio represents not just a loss of a beloved sports team, but a betrayal of the highest order. Immediate review by this Court is imperative to prevent further emotional devastation to the people of Cleveland and to address the broad implications of such franchise moves on communities across the nation.

Petitioner prays that this honorable Court will grant the writ of certiorari to review the decisions of the lower courts and to ultimately issue a permanent injunction preventing the relocation of the Cleveland Browns.

Respectfully submitted,
