Firstly artificial intelligence like every other piece of tech that has been invented is mainly to foster development and aid us (humans) in getting things done more efficiently. However, there has to be a certain level of control arounf it to prevent bad actors from recklessly using it.

Analytical artificial intelligence, such as that driving cars, creating enemies in video games, or assisting with new forms of scientific research seems indubitably positive to me. I'm more hesitant about the social and environmental effects of generative AI though, such as ChatGPT.

I have already heard many stories of college students using AI to write essays for them. Unfortunately, there are way too many elementary aged students who cannot read at or above grade level. A tool such as AI will only make tasks easier for them, removing almost all critical thinking from tasks.

I do think that AI for medical purposes is a great idea, however I worry about AI removing skilled work from the marketplace and preventing people from engaging their brains in meaningful ways.

I believe AI programs in biases. I also feel people need to interact with each other way beyond than AI. We are created to interact with each other, machine cannot replace that. I also feel it can get out of a person's control, and certainly some will attempt to harm through this means.

There's so much room for harm (AI gen photos / voices that mislead, people using it without attribution, AI companies training without license or compensation, etc etc) that good governments need to regulate it. The US will be behind on this because Republicans are in the tech industry's pocket, so once true government is restores this needs to be a priority.
